It will be a gain for the dig D1s and a loss for the smaller ones


The Big D1s with extra money and grad programs (which could provide TA money) will be able to cherry pick from the seniors who want to stay, but can't afford another year of tuition at the marginally funded small D1s, especially the high-tuition private ones that don't have big grad programs or the Ivies, which don't permit 5th years for athletes.
